May 16th
Armed Forces Day the North Berwick, Maine American Legion Post #87 is giving a presentation and one part of it is the raising of the Silver Star Flag in our Veterans Memorial Park. On May 16th, 2010 the renaming of the bridge in North Berwick will start the proceedings. It will be renamed the North Berwick Veteran's Memorial Bridge. This will be enacted by a law passed by the Legislature in Jan. 2010 in Maine for which I was responsible in getting our Rep. Mark Eves to present. This will honor all Veterans from North Berwick. The second part will be to honor our wounded Veterans by the raising of the Silver Star Flag in our Veterans Memorial Park and the reading of the Proclamation. The third part will be to honor our men who died in action from the Civil War to the present. I will be reading their names and a short story about each. A bell will then be rung and a red, white or blue carnation will be put in a vase.
